About the Role
We are looking for a knowledgeable and hardworking Plant Team Member to join our busy garden centre. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role suited to someone who thrives in an active outdoor environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. A strong understanding of plants is essential, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert advice and guidance to customers on plant selection, care, and maintenance
Maintain high standards of plant health and presentation, including watering, pruning, feeding, and pest control
Receive, unload, and move plant deliveries, often involving heavy lifting and manual handling
Merchandise and replenish stock, ensuring displays are attractive, well-organised, and seasonally relevant
Assist customers promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive shopping experience
Support general upkeep of the plant area, keeping it clean, safe, and well-maintained
Work as part of a team to meet daily operational targets and maintain efficiency during busy periods
Skills & Experience
Strong plant knowledge (essential), including seasonal plants, shrubs, perennials, and basic plant care
Previous experience in a garden centre, nursery, or horticultural environment (preferred)
Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable manner
Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks in all weather conditions
A proactive, can-do attitude with a willingness to work hard
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team

You’ll be on your feet for most of the day, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and handling physically demanding tasks.
